B2B digital transformation for used vehicle certification in NA market

Client: A German automobile OEM

6 Designers + 7 Developers + 3 SMEs | 7 months

Service design / Web and Mobile UI/UX / Stakeholder interviews / Heuristic evaluation / Service Blueprints / Figma / Co-creation workshops / Feasibility checks

Dealer's systems for CPO certifications of used vehicles had manual processes, usability issues, poor adoption and siloed systems - resulting in losses. The goal was to reimagine this process with modern technology and increase overall efficiency.

Unifying 6 systems to work in harmony for 5 stakeholders, we reimagined the inventory management system, and converted a paper certification checklist of 290 fields into an integrated mobile app with just 30 inputs. The solution allows remote approvals, status updates, admin visibility, and upfront certification criteria.

Some metrics are -

  • Reduced certification time from 30 days to less than 10 days

  • Faster time to retail

  • Increased face time with customers

  • Better readiness for audits

CUKU

An induction cooktop optimized for intuitive controls and familiar user flow

Classroom Project

2 weeks

HMI / User interviews / Competitor analysis / Heuristic analysis / Task flows / Rhino CAD / Keyshot /

Noticing the popularity of induction cooktops, I observed that most of the buttons/functions were unused and people preferred operations using the basic heat settings. This was also verified with user interviews with college students and households.

Redesigning the induction with a traditional dial, time settings, and visual heat representation, I found that the interactions native to the gas stove improved affordance and peace of mind to users. The controls also reduced the learning curve for first time cooks.

BOX BOX

Packaging concept for Puma Speedcat racing shoes

Classroom Project

2 weeks

Packaging / Brand study / User preferences study / Sustainable materials / Rhino CAD / Keyshot

My goal was to convey the emotion of high level sports and athleticism. The current box was simple made using cardboard without any specific branding whereas a designed box can maximize customer relevancy and competitive distinctiveness.

My concept was - Urban fashion with racing DNA, lightweight, compact and functional. Inspiration is taken from forms found in racing like the steering wheel, paddles and lights. Materials are sustainable like wood foam, cardboard, recycled fabric, peat plastic and paper mache.

Puma builds partnerships on the shared DNA in racing and desire to push the sport forward. This range of shoes are not just footwear, but an extension of the deeper perceptions of racing fans.

MOODS of SPEED

CMF exploration for a sim-racing steering wheel

Classroom Project

3 weeks

Colour Material Finish / Visual mapping / Competitor Analysis / Product Evolution / Rhino CAD / Keyshot

This CMF exercise for the Thrustmaster T-GT racing wheel began with studying the product evolution from arcades to pro-level racing leagues, contexts of use, and key user segments.

A market study of brands, products and CMF at each price point helped take informed decisions on the theme and vision board.

Three distinct CMF moodboards, namely 'Overconfident rebel', 'Experienced podium sitter', and the 'Dependable rookie' was taken forward. The concepts take inspiration from patterns, colours and materials in racing and video games of the genre.

LEVITATE

A table fan inspired by the ocean

Experimental

3 days

Desk accessory / Solidworks / Keyshot / Ocean plastic

Inspired by an evening of working on a hot summer day near the coast, I needed air. A gaze into the ocean struck a lightbulb that brought about this table lamp concept made of ocean plastic.

The concept lies in the repetitive patterns, like the repeated ocean waves crashing but never interfering with the flow. A golden highlight in the centre acts as the pivot to tilt the fan towards you.

OLPHY

A multipurpose blender, from ice creams to coconut

Classroom Project

3 Designers | 6 weeks

Competitor research / User interviews / Task flow / BOM / Technical analysis / Product interactions / Solidworks / Keyshot

The goal was to analyze and redesign the chosen product which was an ice cream blender. Our findings showed that with the adjustment of motor speed, mixing time, and blade type, we could propose an all in one blender for ice creams, soft and hard food, and even coconut grinding.

This had potential to eliminate multiple appliances and be used in homes with less storage space or limited budgets.

The product combines ergonomic controls and braille buttons for an inclusive design. The jar is capable of pouring thick liquids from the bottom opening which can be shut airtight with a quick flick. The spinning involves planetary gears to allow for slow speeds.
